Job Description

The Software Management Technician will be working within the Wall Street FX/BO team which is part of the London R&D group, reporting to the Manager of Software Management.

The Software Management Technician is responsible for carrying out the software turnover requests to build and deliver software components externally to our customer base and internally to our in-house test systems in an accurate and timely way. Working as part of a team of three managing work via the in-house Source Control Management System (SCMS). Responsibilities also include working to develop & enhance aspects of software management systems, processes and procedures.

The role requires working in a rotating shift pattern from 09:00 to 17:30,and every third week from 13:30 to 22:00.

Successful candidates will be given training to support their development within the team, the position is an excellent gateway to other roles within Software Management, Research & Development or other roles within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verification of the completeness of requests
  • Liaison with Product Managers and their staff regarding Turnover requests.
  • Building, packaging and delivering turnover requests to clients via the FTP server, e-mail or delivery & implementation in internal systems
  • Recording and administration of delivery details, capturing metrics relating to deliveries
  • Creation of Windows GUI installation kits using Installshield
  • Provide technical support for delivery problems
  • Reconciliation of software deliveries to clients
  • Assist with the collection and packaging of releases and deltas
  • Small project work developing aspects of software management systems, processes and procedures, supporting other team members with their projects.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualified desirable but not essential, bright candidates with relevant job experience also considered, candidates should be able to satisfy at least 5 of the following skills / experience requirements:-
  • Delivery of software for a software house or equivalent organisation
  • Developing software using VB or C++.
  • Developing software using Java J2EE or J2SE (Java 1,5 or higher)
  • Deployment of J2EE applications using JBoss, Tomcat or Glassfish
  • Unix experience on Solaris, HP-UX, Redhat Enterprise 5 or Linux
  • Unix shell, Perl and Ant scripting
  • Use of Source Control Management System tools such as Perforce or Eclipse
  • Database development and structures to support development projects, experience of Oracle an advantage
  • Building, managing and deploying Virtual Systems – Ideally VMWare desktop or server solutions
  • Systems or operational experience of Windows server environments on Windows 2000 server / W2K3
  • Knowledge of Terminal services, Citrix, SharePoint technologies advantageous.
