Job Description
Wall Street Systems Project Managers are an integral part of the Professional Services division. They work closely with clients and Wall Street Systems Professional Services team to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction. Their main role is to co-ordinate and monitor project teams implementing highly specialized financial software solutions within an ASP / Managed Services arena. They will ensure projects are implemented within the agreed budget and timescale constraints. Creating and managing efficient project teams is fundamental to the way Wall Street Systems operates, we take pride in our excellent client support staff, and their optimal allocation is imperative.
Key Responsibilities
- To accurately estimate, build, agree, maintain and communicate multi-phase, multi-tier, multi-party project plans with mixed discipline project teams comprised of Client personnel, 3rd Party personnel and Wall Street Systems personnel
- To provide direction and leadership to the Wall Street Systems and Client project teams, driving and managing projects with medium to high business complexity and significant cultural challenges to a successful completion. Performing tasks in a timely manner, cognisant of project deadlines, budgets and Client expectations
- To ensure consistency between Client Proposals, Contracts, Project Scope and Project Definition Documents in terms of effort, resources, costs, timescales, deliverables, responsibilities, milestones and payment terms
- To hold Project P&L responsibility, managing, controlling and monitoring project risks, progress against time and budget, redressing project slippage and reporting deviations in excess of tolerance.
- To manage the project scope, instilling a strong change control culture into the project lifecycle, implementing and controlling processes to manage change requests, agree requirements, accurately estimate additional project components, timescales and costs in time and materials, fixed price or share risk situations, and integrate into the overall project plan
- To ensure that the plan is adequately resourced and that the project team and other relevant parties work to the plan
- To ensure the correct software components are delivered for a project and to incorporate any operating system or application software release / upgrade process into the lifecycle of a project.
- To effectively escalate issues to the appropriate level within the Client’s or the Wall Street Systems’ organisation when necessary.
- To work with sales to ensure appropriate customer expectations management at all times. In particular, assist sales teams with scoping projects, the production of high quality proposals, selling the project and in the preparation of contractual documentation pertaining to the project. Able to identify and capitalise on further sales opportunities and to engage with Clients and Prospects to demonstrate the value of Wall Street Systems Project Management.
- To operate as a mentor and role model for Wall Street Systems project team, setting high standards of professional behaviour. Providing support and encouragement to the team, involving line managers and HR as required.
- To ensure correct Client invoicing based upon the financial terms / milestones for the project.
- To obtain Client Acceptance of the solution and provide effective hand-over to Customer Support and Account Management at project completion
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Proven experience in treasury and capital markets working in one or more of the following environments:
- Systems Integrator
- Significant Management Consulting company
- As a specialist for a treasury software company
- Management level within a leading financial institution
- Management level within the group treasury department of a large multinational where a leading role in the implementation of treasury and capital market systems has been held
- Management level within an Investment Management firm;
- Reached the appropriate level of responsibility within a large Consulting company.
- Completed a minimum of five full lifecycle implementations/projects in excess of 1000 man days effort where one project exceeded 3000 man days.
- Extensive experience delivering software based solutions and implementing Treasury Management solutions
- Experience in different levels of demanding projects, with a proven track record in project management delivering to time and budget
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Experience of working on an international basis and managing multi-national projects
- Must have operated with clients at senior management and board level and be able to represent Wall Street Systems and the client diplomatically and effectively.
- Results orientated individual who is self reliant, self starting and single minded.
- Deep knowledge of financial industry, instruments and market processes
- Thorough understanding of treasury functions within a Corporate Treasury.
- Certification as a project manager is beneficial (PRINCE 2, PMP, etc.)
- Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Enthusiastic/passionate leader and a team player.
- Good understanding of Project Methodologies.
- Strong organization and interpersonal skills
- Commercially astute and a strong negotiator
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to identify and manage project issues quickly and effectively.
- Fluent spoken and written English. Other languages are an asset.
- Strong working knowledge in information systems, specifically UNIX/Windows NT environments
- Willing to travel and work on an international basis
