Job Description
Wall Street Systems Project Managers are an integral part of our Professional Services division. They work closely with Clients and the Professional Services team to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction. Their main role is to ensure the successful implementation of our highly specialized financial software. They will ensure projects are implemented within the agreed budgets and timescales.
Key Attributes
- Prior Project Management experience in implementing Treasury Systems
- Knowledge of Treasury business (FX, Money Market, debt, Derivatives, Cash Management, Settlement, Accounting)
- Passionate belief that client satisfaction is the key measure of project success whilst being able to balance this commitment with the financial parameters of the project
- Able and willing to travel
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare project plans for financial software implementation projects. (goals, activities, schedules, resource allocation, etc.)
- Manage projects up to and in excess of one year and between 1,000 and 5,000 man days, with medium to high business complexity and significant cultural challenges.
- Lead, plan, and coordinate project activities and meetings as well as project progress reports.
- Produce the deliverables according to what is stated in the project definition document (within time, budget and with the required quality).
- Ensure control by setting and maintaining cost, time tracking and reporting, and resource management.
- Identify risks and to plan backup actions
- Build and sustain ongoing relationships of openness and trust with clients, and respond appropriately to political issues in the client's organisation ; to continuously inform client project manager of problems, changes to the project plan, resource needs etc.
- Act as a mentor and role model for Wall Street Systems staff onsite, setting high standards of professional behaviour. Provide support and encouragement to the team, involving line managers and HR as needed. Focus attention and training on new and junior team members.
Functional Responsibilities
- People responsibility (size): no direct people management responsibility as project teams are often assembled from different groups. However, all resources assigned to the project are and work under the responsibility of the project manager on a daily basis during the duration of the project.
- Revenue/budget responsibility: Typical project sizes will be > $1m. The project manager has full responsibility for the project financials and profitability.
- Customers & Partners (frequency of contact, specific authority): Daily contacts. Expected to attend regular senior steering committees. We expect the successful candidate to have a high level of personal credibility and authority as a result of their business competence and experience.
- Process responsibility: The allocation of resources within the project, the request for new resources, the management of the project budget, the approval of all project change orders (subject to mandate), the approval of any project billing activity and of all project expenses.
- Planning responsibility: The definition of a project plan, scoping, financial model and activity tracker.
Typically a Project Manager at Wall Street Systems will have the following experience:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in the financial industry, preferably working for a large corporate treasury, bank, or investment management firm or alternatively big consulting company
- Experience with delivering software based solutions and implementing Treasury System
- Experience in different levels of demanding projects, with a proven track record in project management
- International work experience and intercultural awareness is preferred
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Results orientated individual who is self reliant and self starting
- Deep knowledge of financial industry, instruments and market processes
- Thorough understanding of treasury functions within a Corporate Treasury
- Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Enthusiastic/passionate leader and a team player
- Good understanding of Project Methodologies
- Certification as a project manager is beneficial (PMI, PRINCE 2, etc.)
- Commercially astute and a strong negotiator
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to identify and manage project issues quickly and effectively.
- Fluent spoken and written English. Other languages are an asset.
- Strong working knowledge in information systems, specifically UNIX/Windows NT environments
