Job Description
The Functional Test Engineer's main role is to ensure that the products produced by Research and Development are functioning in accordance with specifications and companies quality assurance guidelines before delivery and in the maintenance phase.
Key Responsibilities
As a Functional Test Engineer at Wall Street Systems your main goals will be to:
- To design, build, implement and execute test cases for assigned functional areas with in the organization. A test case is composed of:
- positive and negative business use scenarios (use cases)
- configuration assumptions
- input data and expected output data
- quality guidelines with respect to GUI behaviour, application usability, acceptable tolerances in data entry fields, interactions of various modules in a user environment.
- To be able to extract information from Functional Specification and pass it to the Documentation team.
- To produce automated test scripts based on approved test cases.
- To manually execute test cases (system and patch-tests), record test results and re-test failure scenarios according to documented team procedures.
- To analyze and where possible troubleshoot the test results and report the errors to development for correction.
- To build financial knowledge of how the customers use the Wall Street Systems products and to improve knowledge of specific functional areas in depth.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- 1/2 years experience in testing or quality assurance areas with relevant degree, diploma or equivalent experience.
- Strong testing, trouble-shooting, problem solving, documenting, team player skills, with an innovative approach to problem solving.
- Significant testing experience in client/server, Java, or Web-based technical environments.
- Testing experience with at least one database (Sybase/Oracle/SQL Server). Considered an asset.
- Testing experience with multi-platform environments (Linux, UNIX, Windows). Considered an asset.
Profile:
- Usually degree level education in a relevant financial domain. Alternatively years of experience in a related field e.g. Banking or Accountancy.
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Self motivated and service minded.
- Flexible.
- An organised and structured way of working.
- Be Quality aware.
- Committed to testing as a career – dedicated ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Experience in treasury and/or cash-management within an international business environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with an automated test tools would be an asset.
